Grade 7 History Term 2: The Transatlantic Slave Trade

The Grade 7 Term 2 History exam covers the Transatlantic Slave Trade. This includes how slavery worked in West Africa before the Europeans arrived, what life was like for slaves in the American South, and the long-term effects of slavery.

Grade 7 History Term 4: Conflict at the Cape and Final Exam

Your Grade 7 Term 4 History exam is more detailed and includes a combination of Term 3 and Term 4 content. The big topics include the arrival of the British, conflict on the frontiers, and resistance from groups like the Xhosa.

Focus areas include:

  • British expansion at the Cape
  • The Eastern and Northern frontiers
  • Frontier wars and Chief Maqoma’s resistance
  • The abolition of slavery in 1836
  • Trade and contact with the Kora, Griqua, Tswana
  • Robert Moffat and early missionaries

The end-of-year exam is also out of 50 marks:

  • 15 marks from Term 3 content
  • 35 marks from Term 4 content
  • Question types include source-based questions, paragraphs, and essay writing
