Physical Science Grade 12 2025 June Term 2 Exam Papers and Memos

On this page, we will go through the Grade 12 Physical Sciences Term 2 June exam Paper 1 and Paper 2. We are not going to rewrite the entire paper, but we will look at some of the real exam questions and show how you could have answered them. This is meant to help you prepare better for your next test or the final exams.

At the bottom of this page, you will also find a list of 2025 June Physical Sciences exam papers from various provinces that you can download and use for revision.

Paper 1 – Physics 2025 May/June Exams

Question 1: Multiple Choice

  • Definitions came up: you had to know the difference between static and kinetic friction.
  • One question tested what happens in an inelastic collision. Remember: momentum is conserved, kinetic energy is not.

Question 2: Forces and Friction

  • Two blocks on a 30° incline pulled with a force.
  • Coefficients of friction were different for each block — you had to explain why.
  • You also had to draw a free-body diagram and calculate mass using Newton’s laws.

Question 3: Vertical Motion

  • A crate goes up, cable snaps, and it falls.
  • A velocity-time graph was given.
  • You had to figure out how long it moved upwards after the snap.
  • It also asked for a definition of projectile — basic stuff that’s often forgotten.

Question 6: Doppler Effect and Red Shift

  • A car hoots at 500 Hz but the detector hears 615 Hz.
  • You had to calculate the speed of the car and how long it takes to travel a certain distance.
  • It ended with red shift: you had to say whether the star is moving away or towards Earth, and what it means for the universe.

Paper 2 – Chemistry 2025 May/June Exams

Question 1: Multiple Choice

  • Functional group of alkynes? Answer: carbon-carbon triple bond.
  • Functional isomers of carboxylic acids? Correct: esters.
  • A question also asked which property decreases as molecular mass increases — answer: vapour pressure.

Question 2: Organic Molecules

  • You had to identify a hydrocarbon, give its general formula, and write its IUPAC name.
  • Later, they gave you a compound and asked you to write a functional isomer and name its homologous series.

Question 3: Vapour Pressure vs Intermolecular Forces

  • A graph was given comparing 4 compounds.
  • You had to define vapour pressure, write the investigative question, and use the graph to find boiling points.
  • You were also asked to explain why alcohols have lower vapour pressure than aldehydes — answer: stronger hydrogen bonding.
